5th Annual Donkey Welfare Symposium November 3rd-5th, 2017
This event is presented by: The University of California Davis Department of Animal Science,
The International Animal Welfare Training Institute at the UCD School of Veterinary Medicine,
The Donkey Sanctuary and SPANA. This year the focus will be on recognizing the donkey that is healthy in mind and body and knowing how to attain this health. Topics will include nutrition and physiology, especially as relates to laminitis; wild burro ecology; and international welfare problems related to the trade in donkeys as raw materials for industrial chemicals and meat. Of course there will be lots more:
training, dentistry, preventing stress, adaptation of donkeys to different climates, harness fitting, and hoof care, along with an all BLM donkey adoption event (donkeys trained by UCD students).
